Indications and modalities of thromboprophylaxis in people with haemophilia undergoing major orthopaedic surgery remain controversial. The ADVANCE Working Group aimed to identify risk factors for venous thromboembolism (VTE), optimal approaches of thromboprophylaxis and the applicability of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) guidelines to people with haemophilia undergoing total hip replacement (THR) or total knee replacement (TKR).
A survey was performed among 21 members of the ADVANCE working group. The results will be published along with the retrospective clinical practice data from the ADVANCE members on the incidence of thrombosis in people with haemophilia in 2015.
